What is CollegeTrek?
College preparation should not wait for high school. The Wooten Center provides educational activities to help students in grades 3-12 develop the skills needed to complete their journey to higher education.
CollegeTrek is a tuition-free, hybrid afterschool program offered both online on Zoom and onsite at our youth center at 91st and Western in Los Angeles. Activities include private tutoring, homework assistance, assessments, STEM classes, world languages and culture with cooking, performing and visual arts, leadership and life skills development, sports and recreation, college tours and scholarships, field trips, and more.
The Wooten Center is a nonprofit organization providing services at no cost, thanks to our donors. We work in partnership with parents, schools and other partners to achieve our mission to promote good citizenship and academic excellence. Our lesson planning is based on our STEP Model for activities that are Self-Directed, Team-Oriented, Experiential and Project-Based.
Hands-on activities like coding, robotics, music production, art and more help promote our four college readiness skills: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creative expression.

"Absolutely FANTASTIC - that sums up the staff at Al Wooten who really is more like an extended family with the love, support, and HIGH expectations they have academically not just for our 6th-grade daughter but for all the kids fortunate enough to be a part of this program!"
Jules Fagan, Wooten Parent
