College and career preparation should not wait for high school. The Wooten Center provides academic and personal enrichment to support students in grades 3-12 in their journeys to college and career access and success.

What is CollegeTrek?
CollegeTrek is a hybrid, tuition-free afterschool program offered online on Zoom and onsite at our youth center at 91st and Western in South Los Angeles. Activities include homework assistance, private tutoring using i-Ready diagnostics and lessons in reading and math, STEM, world languages and culture with cooking, performing and visual arts, leadership and life skills development, sports and recreation, college advisement and tours, and more.

When are we open?
Our afterschool program is open Mon-Fri from 2-6pm onsite and 12-7pm online. Click here for our schedule.

Who are we?
The Wooten Center is a nonprofit agency providing free afterschool and low-cost summer programs, thanks to our donors. We work in partnership with parents, schools, and other partners to achieve our mission for good citizenship and academic excellence.
What are our goals?
The Wooten Center’s primary goals are to help students attain grade-level proficiency and promotion, high school graduation, and college and career access and success.

How do we accomplish them?
All lesson planning is based on our STEP Model for activities that are Self-Directed, Team-Oriented, Experiential, and Project-Based. STEP activities like coding, robotics, video projects, and more help promote our four college and career readiness skills: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creative expression.

"Absolutely FANTASTIC - that sums up the staff at Al Wooten who really is more like an extended family with the love, support, and HIGH expectations they have academically not just for our 6th-grade daughter but for all the kids fortunate enough to be a part of this program!"
Jules Fagan, Wooten Parent
