The required courses are (home page icons from left to right):
A. History/Social Sciences
B. English
C. Math
D. Lab Science
E. Language Other Than English
F. Visual and Performing Arts
G. College-prep Electives
The Wooten Center has a class or activity to expose students to all A-G requirements, to help prepare them for high school and college graduation and life.
Caps and Gowns
All students attending the afterschool and summer programs at the Wooten Center complete a college plan and take a photo in a cap and gown. Our goal is to help students from grades 3-12 plan now for higher education and visualize themselves as graduates both now and in the future.
The college plan outlines student goals for their college campus, major, funding, graduation year and more. Teachers and parents can use it as a guide to advise students about their goals, SAT-prep, A-G requirements and more. See below to download the form.
Be sure to advise that plans can change! Expose them to a variety of college and career options and let them explore. Involve them in experiential learning via mentors, internships and other extracurricular activities that can help make them more attractive to college recruiters and admissions officers.
Encourage them to take AP courses in high school to increase their GPA and qualify for the college or university of their choice. For students who want to play sports in college, introduce them to NCAA eligibility requirements.
