Year-End Fundraiser

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The Wooten Center held our Christmas art contest this year with the theme, "Homecoming," engaging our students in creative expressions about our return to our youth center after almost two years of renovations. We featured the winning art in our Christmas card below.

Our art contest winners received gift cards of $100, $50 and $25. We presented the cards at our Wooten Family Christmas Dinner on Dec 19 at Kinecta Federal Credit Union in El Segundo. More than 50 youth and family members attended.

Thank you, Kinecta, for the lovely complimentary space! Thank you, parents, for the great dinner and family fun!

Thank you to our Christmas gift donors Pepperdine Seaver College of Business, AKA Sorority, Inc. Tau Beta Omega, Steven and Debra Oh, John and Evelyn Lapham and more.

Here's our "Homecoming" art contest winners from top: Natalia (1st), Makailah (2nd), and McKhai (3rd). Congrats!

1st Place Natalia Cormier, 12th grade "Home is a place that you love. When I first started coming to the center, I didn't know if I wanted to stay. Now, I want to come everyday."

2nd Place Makailah Smith, 6th grade "Muffin Girl is an elf who lives at the North Pole. She is going home after helping Santa make toys."

3rd Place McKhai Castillo, 3rd grade "Home feels like my family singing. We wish you a Merry Christmas."

We have been away from our youth center for almost two years while undergoing renovations for fire, life and safety upgrades and other improvements.

Thank you to our project grant funders The Ahmanson Foundation, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, KROQ Radio and the Southwest LA Neighborhood Council.
